Steel Away
Posted 02/08/04
It has been announced that following Sundays
home defeat at the hands of champions elect Hull, Ian Steel has been
removed of his team manager duties.
The promotion spoke with Ian Steel after the meeting
and relieved him of his duties. Riders were also informed at this time.
There has been mounting critisism of some of the team
management decisions made over the last season and a half although surely
no one can doubt Ian Steels knowledge of the rules. Unfortunately this
alone is not enough, although the promotion may have been better to
think along the lines of bringing in a joint manager to combat this.
It is always hard to move on and loose someone who
has almost legend status from his time at the club but Ian as sole team
manager was no longer the answer.
From a fans point of view I will always be grateful
for the tremendous service Ian has given the club and he will always
be welcome at Ashfield.
It is obvious from postings on Easy Tiger that feelings
are strong and somewhat divided over the promotions actions and the
way they were carried out. Whether right or wrong, the decision has
been made and we must now get behind the new team manager when he is
appointed. Glasgow speedway has to move forward.
Thanks Ian for all that you have done over the years,
far too much to even begin to mention. Hopefully you will realise you
are still welcome at Ashfield and come along on a Sunday afternoon to
enjoy watching and cheering on the Tigers without the additional stress
you have had in previous years.
Stewart Dickson will take over meantime as temporary
team manager until a new manager is appointed.
