Glasgow v Berwick 19th August

Posted 18/08/04

After last weeks postponement, Glasgow will welcome the Bandits to Ashfield this Thursday with only a one point deficit from the meeting at Shielfield.

With the Bandits not exactly being impressive at Ashfield the Tigers must surely be confident of a comfortable home win.

Neither team has any known injury worries. Adam Pietraszko will be making his first visit and it will beinteresting to see how the youngster the borderers are raving about fares. Adrian Rymel usually goes well enough round Ashfield and will no doubt cause one or two problems.

The Bandits middle order doesn't really hold any fears. Kristensen blows hot and cold whilst Cartwright was never particularly impressive unless in the reserve berth and should not pose any real threat for his Glasgow opponents. Josef Franc may do okay but again Grieves and Bentley should be able to see him off.

Interestingly, Berwick look to have slightly stronger reserves than most in Ritchie Hawkins and Lee Smethills. Hawkins is the 2004 UK Under 21 Champion whilst 22 year old Smethills has been hitting a patch of form of late. They should give Carrillo and Cockle a good challenge.

With Glasgow also at full strength three points should be staying with the Tigers on Thursday night with the home team being too strong, especially in the middle order.
