Glasgow v Rye House 22nd August
Posted 20/08/04
There will be silver at Ashfield on Sunday
but unfortunately it will only be of the Len type as Rye House are the
visitors.
Like Glasgow, Rye have failed to live up to high expectations
this season although they still have a useful looking side.
The top two are Neath and Werner and although Neath
is a good rider I would expect Parker and Stancl to comfortbaly have
the edge over this pair.
Steve Masters and Davey Watt are both going to be danger
men to watch out for. Both are capable of decent things at Ashfield
and they will probably score relatively well. Scott Robson is another
of those 'enigma' riders who sometimes do it, sometimes don't.
Young Tommy Allen at reserve is eratic. He has been
highly rated by some whilst castigated by others for lack of control.
No doubt he suffers from comparison to his brother all the time and
you would expect his time at the tight Rye House circuit will have improved
his close control. I doubt if he will threaten Eric but will probably
be comfortably ahead of Cockle. Boxall is of similar age and just a
little more experience than young James so the heat 2 battle between
them could be interesting.
This has the makings of a relatively close meeting
but due to the strength of the top two for Glasgow a home win of around
6-8 points should be on the cards with hopefully some good racing on
the way.
