SCB Move Goalposts after Glasgow Appeal
Posted 01/07/04
Following on from the decision not to allow
Glasgow an appeal into being denied the right to use a TR at Stoke,
the SCB have now issued a memo to all speedway promotions and referees
on what it refers to as 'race fixing'.
Referees now appear to have been given the power that
Mr Ackroyd seized anyhow at Stoke in that they can declare that a move
was made solely to allow a TR and therefore disallow it.
How this is going to be adjudged remains to be seen.
Will we have bikes checked over for the cause of the mysterious 'engine
failures' which just so happen to occur at a convenient time?
Apart from anything else the need to issue this memo
proves that the referee acted outwith his remit at Stoke and once again
the decision to deny Glasgows appeal looks irrational.
