Premier Trophy Semi Final Preview

v Reading, Posted 10/07/04

Sunday sees the first leg of the Premier Trophy semi-final against Reading Racers at Ashfield. There have already been a few battles with Reading this season and although good meetings Reading have so far had the upper hand on aggregate.

After a difficult week which has seen the Tigers defeated at Kings Lynn and Workington with the retiral of Graham Jones the Tigers will have to lift themselves up and be at their best for this one.

Eric Carrillo is still believed to be suffering from the back injury received against Stoke two weeks ago and undoubtedly aggrevated in the crash at Kings Lynn in midweek when he also sustained a hand injury. He will however be riding.

New loan signing Lee Dicken, brought in to replace Graham Jones, will make his debut in this meeting for the Tigers, presumably at no 3.

Reading will be without star man Matej Zagar again and as he is away on international duty a guest is allowed. Reading have therefore secured the services of Monarchs Frede Schott for this meeting. Reserve Steve Braidford is also missing through injury and as highest reserve Reading have taken the option of bringing in Chris Johnson at no. 6.

Meetings between the two this year have produced some good hard racing and despite all the personnel changes from the last meeting, this meeting should be no different.

Realistically Tigers have to look at a 16 point plus lead to take down to Smallmead for the return leg on Monday.
