King Reigns - Cockle Fourth

U18 Championship 18/10/04

Daniel King was tonight crowned U18 Championship after scoring a 15 point maximum at Wolverhampton. Glasgow reserve James Cockle finished on a respectable 11 points.

James put up a good display but had a costly last place in his 3rd ride when up against Workingtons James Wright, Elite League's Eddie Kennett and Sheffield reserve/second string Ben Wilson - perhaps he was a shade unfortunate to draw all three in the one heat.

Barring that ride, James had 3 heat wins and a second place - in his first ride behind eventual winner King - and finished with a creditable 11 points. As he had more heat wins than Jamie Robertson and beat Will Lawson when they came head-to-head, James finished in 4th place.

The finishing positions and points were as follows: -

01 Daniel King 15
02 James Wright 14
03 Edward Kennett 12
04 James Cockle 11
05 Will Lawson 11
06 Jamie Robertson 11
07 Ben Wilson 10
08 Jack Hargreaves 07
09 Jamie Courtney 07
10 Karl Mason 05
11 James Brundle 05
12 Lee Smart 04
13 Jamie Westacott 03
14 Josh Auty 03
15 Darren Mallet 01
16 Shane Waldron 01
Res Barry Burchatt 01
