Eric Turns to Robin
Posted 11/09/04
Eric Carrillo received a last minute SOS to
turn out at reserve for Swindon tonight in place of the injured Olly
Allen.
Swindon were riding at Belle Vue and as seems to be
the norm for Manchester, the meeting suffered from heavy rain with concerns
about the track flagged as early as the second heat.
However it went ahead and Belle Vue recorded a 60-30
victory against a poor Robins side. Speaking with a friend who was at
the meeting, Eric won some friends with his effort and rode well considering
the conditions.
His final score of 6 points from six rides was made
up of three 2nd places, collecting the scalps of opposition riders Andre
Compton (twice) and Kenneth Bjerre. One of his second places was in
a bizarre heat 12 when Swindon chose not to use the r/r facility and
sent him out on his own against Compton and Bjerre with Compton then
suffering an engine failure.
Its good to see Eric getting another EL meeting under
his belt but hopefully he will decide that he needs another year in
the PL to help his development.
