2004
Glasgow Scoring Record
Barry is well known in speedway probably for reasons
he would rather not be. He has been riding since bikes since he was
2 and along with many other Scottish riders of his age group rode with
Linlithgow/Lathallan before joining Edinburgh in 97. By the end of 98
he had increased his average to 5.3 resulting in there being no place
for Barry in the 99 team and he moved onto Workington for the next 3
years.
His time at Derwent was to be brought to an abrupt end when he broke
his neck and suffered severe internal injuries in a horror smash in
2001 and most felt he would never race again.
During his time in recovery he was a familiar sight at Glasgow spectating
with various medical contraptions attached to his neck to aid his recovery!
He returns to Glasgow this season as much due to the failure to attract
any other youngster from the CL to try their hand in the north. Many
feel that Barry should have quit but he is now back in the sport and
trying to regain some of the form of old. He could prove to be a useful
reserve for Glasgow and although I have my reservations I wish him well
in the stripes.
