Banger's
Gone

It has been confirmed on the Glasgow Tigers
hotline this evening that after today's meeting Paul Bentley and Glasgow
have parted company.
Paul has struggled so far this season
and has looked a shadow of the rider he was at the end of last season.
He has struggled to turn things round and in a meeting with members
of the promotion after today's match advised that he no longer wished
to be considered for inclusion in the Tigers team.
This means that he is deemed to be
withholding his services and as such he will be suspended from riding
for 28 days and Glasgow will be able to utilise rider replacement.
It is sad when a rider and club have
to part company, especially a rider like Paul who is probably more
popular than he realises amongst the Glasgow support. His contribution,
especially last season, will always be remembered when his away displays
in particular meant there was no doubt he would be named away rider
of the year 2004.
It is unfortunately the best decision for both Paul and Glasgow to
part company now. He was obviously frustrated and not enjoying his
speedway at the moment and in all honesty it was probably only a matter
of time before the promotion would have made the decision for him.
That should not take away from what Paul has done for Glasgow however,
the many important points he has scored and the quality riding he
has previously entertained us with.
Time will tell if Paul decides to
call it a day completely or if we will once again see him, albeit
in another teams jacket, turn on the style as he did so frequently
for us last season.
Whatever he decides, we wish Paul
all the best for the future whether it be in or out of speedway and
hopefully we will welcome him back at Ashfield, even if only as a
spectator, in the future.
Thanks and good luck Paul.
