Howe's That
Posted 05/08/05

Glasgow riders gave a good account of themselves in this evening's Scottish Open at Armadale but unfortunately were no match for the impressive David Howe, this years Scottish Open Champion.

Despite some dubious refereeing decisions, George and Shane both managed to qualify for the semi final against Lemon and Lyons. Glasgow asset David McAllan made a gallant attempt at making the semi final himself - if he had won heat 20 instead of George he would have lined up along side Shane.

In the semi final, George gated and Shane joined him at the from coming out of the second bend and the Pairs Champions were heading for the final. However, the final itself ended up being something of an anti climax. Shane stated afterwards he felt George was coming off on the first bend and laid his bike down. The referee was unimpressed, the race carried on, with Howe wining relatively unchallenged, home rider Theo Pijper in second and George third.

It was a decent display from both Tigers team members and an excellent effort from Glasgow asset David McAllan but the end result was the correct one with David Howe a worthy champion.
