Shane
- Signing Looks Close
Posted 10/12/05
There is good news for Tigers fans this
morning if the Scottish Sun is accurate under their heading 'Cut-Price
Shane to Stay With Glasgow'.
In a decent sized article, it advises that Shane is ready
to set an example to his fellow riders by taking a pay cut to remain
at Glasgow, re-iterating that you cannot take more out of the sport
than is going into it. Most riders will be faced with the same decision
this season.
Shane is currently trying to source new sponsors, particularly
north of the border where he has never managed to receive sponsorship
to date, to try and make up some of the short fall in lost earnings
and he will also of course be riding in Sweden next season.
With Stancl having rejected the offer made to him by Glasgow
out of hand, Shane's signing would give the fans - and hopefully season
ticket sales - the pre-Christmas boost they need. Shane himself is
quoted as saying; -
I have two seasons there and I have
really enjoyed it. The promotion is great and I like everything
about the Tigers. I think crowds would probably go up if it was
promoted a bit more but that's the way it goes'.
Having an entertaining of Shane's calibre back in the team
for next season would certainly be beneficial to any promotional work,
something the promotion have already confirmed they will improve on
next season.
Hopefully Shane's signing will be confirmed over the next
couple of days.
