Cockle
Looks Ahead to 2005
Posted 17/02/05
Glasgow reserve James Cockle
is looking forward to the challenges of 2005 determined to take his
chance in the Premier League and put lasts seasons Conference League
confrontations behind him.
James has been training hard and has had a few outings
on the Sittingbourne Training Track, including the Nathan Gaymer Memorial
Trophy at the end of January.
There is still a possibility that even with the new
CL grading's James could also be riding CL next season but that remains
to be seen.
This weeks Speedway Star devotes most of the Glasgow
column to the March based teenager, his thoughts on last year and
his hopes for this year in a Tigers race jacket.
His four meeting ban at the start of the season is
as a result of his refusal, along with other Boston riders, to ride
at the end of last season on a Mildenhall track many considered dangerous
(original story here),
something James does not regret as he feels an injury could have cost
him his chance of PL speedway.
Expectations are high from the fans but James himself
has set a high target by aiming for an average in excess of 5 by the
end of the season, something he feels he can aim for whilst in a team
alongside Shane, George and Paul.
Lets hope he can get near it!
