Glasgow reserve James Cockle
WILL ride in the Conference League this season as well as riding for
Glasgow.
Sittingbourne have been very keen to secure the London
lads signature but with Glasgow being a Sunday track they had to hold
off until the Conference League fixtures were available to see if
the signing would be feasible.
The only member of this years Glasgow team who was
eligible to also ride CL, James' options were somewhat limited as
over half next seasons Conference League teams will be racing on a
Sunday - including Sittingbourne!
However, once the provisional CL fixtures were released
to the CL clubs, Sittingbourne team manager Sean Wilkinson was happy
to include James in his squad after consultation with the Glasgow
fixture list showed he would be available for 13 of the Crusaders
22 meetings.
From James' point of view this will allow him to
develop in the CL as well as the PL league. It always looked to be
an option for him when Sittingbourne were granted one Saturday a month
with Sittingbourne being the track he has been doing his close season
training on and his excellent relationship with their new team manager.
He will also be joined by another rider he knows well and has ridden
with whose signing is expected to be announced at the weekend.
