Round 3 of Aus Championships

Matthew Wethers once again scored 4 points
in the Australian Championships, this time in the third round at Gillman.
Matthew started well in a fast heat 2, coming second
to Charlie Gjedde and beating Kevin Doolan and new Kings Lynn 'wonder
kid' Troy Batchelor but followed this with two thirds and two fourth
places. The meeting was held in occasional light rain but on a track
that looked good, a comment backed up by Leigh Adams setting a new
track record of 56.38 in heat 3.

Heat 02 Gjedde, Wethers, Doolan, Batchelor (57.49)
Heat 05 Adams, Woodward, Jones, Wethers (57.51)
Heat 10 McGowan, Watson, Wethers Hedley (58.64)
Heat 15 Shields, Johnston, Wethers, Ferguson (58.89)
Heat 20 Lyons, Lemon, Schlein, Wethers (57.89)
The final round of the Australian Championships are scheduled for
this Saturday, 8th January, at Mildura and Leigh Adams merely has
to finish in the top 8 to be crowned Australian Champion.
