Matthew Wethers impressed in yesterdays Jack
Young Cup in Gillman but just missed out making the final by one point.
He will no doubt rue his third place in his third
race which was to prove costly but despite trying everything he could
he was unable to make up for being third out of the gate.
His other four rides produced two heat wins - including
beating Cameron Woodward and Joel Parsons in heat 3 - and two second
places behind Schlein and Doolan respectively.
Unsurprisingly Rory Schlein won the event easily
but many in the Gillman crowd commented on Matthews continued improvement
and determination.
