Things Go from Bad to Worse
Posted 02/07/05

Tapes have just gone up at Berwick and the news is that Trent Leverington has not been allowed to ride at Berwick tonight in the wake of Leon Madsen seemingly walking out on the Tigers at the eleventh hour.

It is not clear as to whether this is as a result of a complaint by Berwick - a complaint they would have been perfectly justified in making - or if the referee has picked up on the apparent breach of rules.

The upshot of it all is that Glasgow are now riding with only five riders, two of who are inexperienced reserves, and the paying public are possibly going to be denied a proper contest.

There is obviously a lot still to come out over the Madsen saga and hopefully the press release that we have been promised all day would be 'issued shortly' will now be forthcoming.

The decision by Leon apparently being made so late in the day has undoubtedly caused Glasgow a major headache.

Tonight's decision may also mean that Trent may not after all be riding for the Tigers tomorrow and alternative arrangements may have to be made at short notice - who'd be a promoter?
