Tigers
Travel to Hull - Again
Posted 13/07/05
Glasgow will once again travel to Craven
Park this evening hoping at last to be able to complete their KO Cup
tie with Hull.
The Tigers have a very good chance of progressing thanks
to the 22 point lead built up way back on the 29th May at Ashfield
and in spite of recent knocks to some riders they are expected to
be at full strength.
Stefan Ekberg and Adam Roynon are both still going to be
riding Hull for the first time and as a gaters track both may find
it less appealing. George and Claus will be relying a lot on their
gating and Claus's improvement at the weekend will hopefully carry
on tonight on a track he has already scored 8+1 on earlier this season
for Newcastle. Trent rode well for Glasgow at Hull earlier this season
although James Cockle struggled on his only visit when guesting for
Sheffield. Its not one of Shane's favourite tracks but that doesn't
mean anything where Shane is concerned and he will no doubt be out
to improve on his 9+1 from 7 rides last time around.
Hull do have some problems for this evening and will have
at least one new face in the side. Reserve Joel Parsons suffered a
double leg break at Conference League level and Hull have drafted
in Weymouth's Dan Giffard. He has been catching the eye at Conference
League level, recently coming up against James Cockle and Adam Roynon
in last weeks CL clash between Weymouth and Boston. He was not beaten
by either Glasgow youngster all night but Weymouth is a small track.
Garry Stead is hoping to be fit for this evenings tie after his recent
back injury but Michael Makovsky of Berwick is on stand by in case
he does not make it.
Sanchez, Thorp and Kramer are all very strong at home and
newcomer Simone Terenzani has proved to be an astute signing for the
larger tracks.
One thing to remember is that although a 22 point lead looks
very comfortable, the Knock Out cup is just about straight speedway,
no tactical rides or substitutes are allowed. The Tigers will have
to work hard but should be able to progress.
