Chase
Tonight for Pairs Champions
Posted 27/07/05
Premier League Pairs Champions George Stancl
and Shane Parker will once again be the pair representing Glasgow
tonight in the Premier Chase at King's Lynn - weather permitting.
Neither have had a good build up to the even with George
having a terrible meeting on Sunday and Shane unusually having engine
problems at Exeter on Monday.
Although the event consists of two of the top three riders
from each of the Premier League teams, it is in fact an individual
event. As an ex-Kings Lynn favourite, Shane can probably be expected
to be the more likely to do well but George should not be written
off as, if he gates, he can be very difficult to pass.
The event is cut-throat as the riders finishing last in the
first 8 heats will be out straight away, meaning they have gone a
long way for just one race. Last years champion Craig Watson will
not be there to defend his title due to injury and of last years finalists
only Matej Zagar of Reading takes part this year.
The field has been depleted due to injury, the anticipated
line up is shown below although there may still be one or two changes.
Riders to watch are probably last years finalist Matej Zagar, Isle
of Wight's Craig Boyce, home rider Tom Topinka and our own Shane Parker.
