There seemed to be a little uncertainty over
the guests who would ride for each team on Thursday with both sets
of fans believing they had the services of James Grieves.
It has, however, now been confirmed that for Sunday James
will be back in a Tigers race jacket as he deputises for injured captain
Shane Parker. Only Shane himself, Chris Harris and Simon Stead had
a better average than James round Ashfield last year. He has been
in excellent form for Newcastle this year and it was no surprise both
clubs wanted him to guest for them.
Having lost that particular battle, Newport have turned to
Monarchs Captain Theo Pijper to guest for the injured Craig Watson.
Theo has been very consistent this season and the only riders to beat
him on his last visit to Ashfield were Shane and George. Theo's recent
loss of his bikes does not seem to have had an adverse affect on his
form and he always seems to enjoy riding Ashfield.
