Changes Start at Glasgow
Posted 17/06/05

The changes that the promotion promised began last night with the announcement that Glasgow will have a new rider in the stripes on Sunday.

Stefan Ekberg is the man coming in and he will slot straight into wearing the number 3 race jacket according to an announcement made during last nights meeting.

He currently rides for Lejonen in the Swedish Allsvenskan as well as having turned out as a squad member for VMS Elit of the Elite league-he was one of the riders in the team that won the Swedish Team Cup in April. Last season he rode in the Piraterna side alongside Shane Parker on a few occasions. As Lejonen are known as the Lions he will be continuing the feline theme with the Tigers!

Stefan did previously ride in the UK in the mid nineties with Oxford for a few seasons where he started very well before falling away at the time he left UK speedway.

In a posting on the British Speedway Forum, a Swedish fan who has seen him of late feels that provided he gets his equipment right, Ekberg should be a solid signing for Glasgow.

Welcome to Glasgow Stefan.

Alan Dick did indicate that there was more to come in the way of rebuilding and a further announcement is expected from the promotion in the next few days.
