U21
Qualifier for James
Posted 25/03/05
It may not have been announced yet whether
or not James Cockle will be appearing for Glasgow on Sunday, but what
is definite is that the young Londoner will be taking part in an Under-21
qualifier on Easter Monday.
The qualifier, at Weymouth, could mean quite a bit
of travelling for James if he is in Glasgow on Sunday and the competition
is tough. Berwick's in-form reserve Chris Schramm will be one of the
pre-meeting favourites with Reading's Chris Johnson also expected
to do well. In addition to the Weymouth riders in the field, Oxfords
Ben Barker has a fair bit of experience on the Weymouth circuit and
could cause a surprise.
The full line up for the meeting is: -
Ben Barker (Oxford), Matt Bates (Weymouth), Steve Braidford (Wolverhampton),
Lewis Bridger (Weymouth), Tom Brown (Weymouth), James Clement (Wimbledon),
James Cockle (Glasgow), Jamie Courtney (Oxford), Daniel Giffard (Weymouth),
Jack Gledhill (Weymouth), Kyle Hughes (Oxford), Chris Johnson (Rye
House), Michael Mitchell (Sheffield), Luke Priest (Stoke), James Purchase
(Mildenhall) and Chris Schramm (Berwick).
Reserves: - Kriss Irving (Stoke), Ashley Johnson (Middlesborough),
Mark Baseby (Sittingbourne).
Four riders will go through from this meeting to
the final itself which is scheduled for April 30th at Rye House, with
other similar qualifying rounds taking place on 3rd and 10th April
at Mildenhall and Scunthorpe respectively. Gary Beaton will be taking
part in the round at Scunthorpe.
Good Luck on Monday James.
