Glasgow travel to Brough Park tomorrow hoping
the weather will be kinder and allow the Newcastle v Glasgow meeting
to go ahead.
Shane Parker and George Stancl both have decent records
round Brough Park and the interesting-perhaps decisive-performance
could be that of Paul Bentley. Banger has always gone well round the
Newcastle circuit and a lot could hinge on how he performs, particularly
against the in-form Franc.
Matthew is capable of a good second string score
but has been struggling of late. The track is unlikely to suit James
Birkinshaw as it is narrow with very little opportunity for passing.
However, Trent's form of late is such that he cannot be written off
at any track. He was effective in his visits there with Stoke and
guesting for Newport last season and could go even better this time.
James Cockle rode for Glasgow at Newcastle last season and has ridden
there at Conference League level. His fast gating could very well
be important.
There is little doubt that the Tigers
will have their work cut out against a determined Newcastle side.
James Grieves form at home has been excellent, his lowest home score
being paid 11. Phil Morris is only third in the home averages, Josef
Franc being ahead of him. Barring one poor home meeting Franc has
been formidable round his home track and must be relishing the prospect
of the weaker Glasgow middle order.
However Kristensen and Henry are
both struggling. As had been anticipated at Ashfield, the reserve
battle could be very interesting and go either way. Newcastle have
home track advantage but Trent and James should worry them.
No doubt one eye will also be on
the weather - the forecast is for tomorrow for Newcastle is rain from
6pm.
