Tigers
to Change
Posted 04/05/05
A short piece in today's Daily Record implies
that Glasgow will shortly be changing their team but a new rider will
NOT be in the side to face Edinburgh on Friday.
There has been much speculation about
who the Tigers could bring in when it looked like Paul Bentley was
going to withhold his services just over a week ago and Stewart Dickson
has been quoted in the press as saying that four riders approached
by Glasgow have turned them down.
Glasgow want their top six riders
to have their new averages before making the change. By our calculations,
prior to the Edinburgh meetings the team averages are as follows:
-
| George Stancl |
9.23 |
| Matt Wethers |
4.76 |
| Jamie Birkinshaw |
4.30 |
| Paul Bentley |
5.45 |
| Shane Parker |
10.04 |
| Trent Leverington |
5.82 |
| James Cockle* |
3.00 |
| TOTAL |
42.60 |
| * has only ridden 5 meetings |
|
The three day rule seems to make it unlikely that any change would
be in place for the Exeter meeting on Sunday.

Glasgow Tigers are set to sign
a mystery new rider but he won't race in the Premier Trophy derby
against Edinburgh Monarchs on Friday.
Bosses want to keep the same
line-up to allow their latest riders' averages to kick in.
Ross Brady could race with Monarchs
skipper Theo Pijper against the Tigers. The capital side need
to win to have any chance of making the semi-finals.
