Edinburgh Preview
Posted 05/05/05

Glasgow head to Edinburgh tomorrow for the second time this season but whilst the tigers only have pride to play for, Edinburgh can still qualify from the Northern section.

In all honesty, there is little need for a preview as both teams know each other well.

The last meeting a month ago saw Glasgow loose by 12 points and with Edinburgh having been beaten by Hull at Armadale last week it will be no easy task.

Last week aside, Nermark and Harrison have continued to be impressive at the Dale and they will be keen to put last week behind them. Ross Brady has struggled but it is understood Edinburgh will change their riding order this Friday at his request to allow him to ride with Theo Pijper. Pijper's home form has been a major factor for the Monarchs this season. Woodward actually had a better meeting last week and will be a greater threat this time round. At reserve, Will Lawson's form at home has also been good but he will be accompanied at reserve by Jamie Courtney. Jamie has been scoring well at Conference League level but may struggle. He cannot be underestimated however and did beat James Cockle in a CL meeting last week.

Shane was on tremendous form last time round and there is nothing to suggest this will change although he will be in direct competition with Nermark this time rather than Brady. George failed to record a race win in the last meeting but should be able to rectify that this time round. Again the middle order are a problem with both Birkinshaw and Bentley poor at Armadale although Matthew rides the track well. Trent was very unlucky last time round to be excluded in his first ride. It is a track he is very capable on and on present form should score a few points. James Cockle was not part of the team the last time due to suspension but has ridden the track well at Conference League level in the past. He will also have a large vocal support in attendance from his Conference League club Sittingbourne and will be keen to impress.

Both teams are expected to line up with slightly altered riding orders: -

Edinburgh

  1. Ross Brady
  2. Theo Pijper
  3. Rusty Harrison
  4. Cameron Woodward
  5. Daniel Nermark
  6. William Lawson
  7. Jamie Courtney

Glasgow

  1. George Stancl
  2. Jamie Birkinshaw
  3. Matt Wethers
  4. Paul Bentley
  5. Shane Parker
  6. James Cockle
