Bad Weekend for David
b y Gordon Gibley Posted 10/10/05
Glasgow asset David McAllan had a weekend
he would probably rather forget. Having driven down to King's Lynn
on Friday for the 1st leg of the CL KO Cup semi final against Mildenhall
he then had to drive back to Workington where he guested for Sheffield.
Obviously the knowledge in knowing he was missing the GTSSC
Presentation Dinner Dance was playing heavily on his mind as he failed
to score from 4 rides as they went down 55-40 at Workington in a Premier
League match.
He then had to undertake the arduous drive back to Mildenhall for
the 2nd leg of the CL KO Cup where he scored a lowly 4 from 4 including
an exclusion as the Fen Tigers, who have applied for Premier League
status for next season, saw off the Barracuda Braves 60-33(111-74
on aggregate).
After the disappointment of being eliminated from one cup competition
the Boston boys then had to drive to King'sLynn for the 2nd leg of
the Conference Trophy semi final against Armadale already trailing
by 10 points from the 1st leg.
While David scored a creditable 13 from 6 starts it was not enough
to prevent an obviously tired Boston team from being eliminated for
the second time in the space of a few hours by the Devils. The Devils,
including Glasgow asset Gary Beaton (1 from 3) won 48-42 for a 101-85
aggregate victory.
The Devils now meet Stoke Spitfires in the Conference Trophy final
in what will unfortunately be the last ever CL level meeting to be
held at The Lothian Arena.
Interestingly EIGHT Scottish youngster rode in the Trophy semi-final.
When, if ever, was the last time Scots made up the majority of riders
in a team match?
