Cockle Ends On A High
Posted 30/10/05
James Cockle finished his competitive speedway season on a high with
an impressive tally for Boston this evening in their meeting with
the Dale Devils at the Norfolk Arena.
James recorded 15 points from 6 rides as the Braves narrowly
beat the Devils by 45-44.
He will feel there was a bit of bad luck following him as
only a bike problem in heat 10 causing him to retire from the race
stood between him and his six ride maximum.
During the meeting, James also took two fairly hefty tumbles.
In the first heat he was hit by Gary Beaton after James had laid his
bike down to avoid the fallen Sean Stoddart. In the final heat of
the night, he was involved in a good battle with Derek Sneddon for
the lead and was holding the Devil off until a misjudgment saw Derek
clip James's back wheel knocking him off-line and hard into the fence.
Thankfully James was unhurt in either accident and nor were the other
riders involved.
