Glasgow fans will be getting more for their
money this weekend with the opportunity to see some of the country's
top young speedway prospects in competitive action after the main
meeting.
Peter Oakes has confirmed that the Academy League KO Cup
match between the Bulls and the Dinosaurs will take place at Glasgow
on Sunday.
The names of those taking part may not be all that familiar
at the moment but these youngsters are the future of the sport and
who knows seeing them in competitive action may spur on some local
youngsters to give the sport a try.
Its not known at the moment who will ride but when the Dinosaurs
were last in action, their team comprised of Josh Auty, Joe Haines,
Gary Irving, Daniel Greenwood and Tom Davies. Auty is probably the
most talked about youngster at this level at the moment and is thought
to have a host of CL teams waiting to sign him up when he turns 15
next week. He currently leads the U-15 Championship standings and
is odds on favourite to retain the title he won last season.
The Bulls last line up consisted of Ben Taylor, Chris Widman,
Andy Braithwaite, Ben Thompson and Jay Pickard. Ben Taylor is currently
lying second to Auty in the U-15 championship, having finished second
to him in every round.
It promises to be great entertainment and hopefully as many
people as possible will turn up to see not only a great victory for
the Tigers against Stoke but also follow it up by watching the riders
who in a few years time will be carrying the hopes of British speedway.
