Stoke head to Ashfield tomorrow on the back
of a victory against Newcastle Diamonds and with a new rider in their
line up.
The new rider is David Meldrum, well known in northern speedway,
who was drafted in as replacement for the injured Adam Allott. He
is expected to line up at no 2 tomorrow and will probably find it
difficult coming up against George and Trent.
Alan Mogridge has returned from injury and will be at number
1. Last visit he certainly had an effect scoring an excellent paid
maximum. On that occasion Stoke had Rusty Harrison as a guest at number
5 and will do so again. Rusty knows the track well and undoubtedly
makes the Potters stronger.
Paul Clews will not count Glasgow as one of his favourite
tracks but Robbie Kessler will and riding at number 4 his presence
is a major threat to the Tigers.
Stokes reserves are hard to judge. Barrie Evans has been
recording some decent scores recently but tends to struggle away from
home. Luke Priest has certainly made his mark since coming in for
the injured Jack Hargreaves at the end of last month and his confidence
must be sky high at the moment.
Stoke must surely be one of the unluckiest teams in the injury
stakes this year but they have a team who are capable of making life
very difficult to say the least round Ashfield. The astute choice
of guest will also be very much in their favour and the Tigers will
have to be at their best to record a victory in what has the makings
of a good close speedway meeting.
