Record
George is the third generation of his family to ride speedway -
his father is arguably one of Czechoslovakia's best ever riders.
He has been riding since he was four years old and first rode in
the UK for Sheffield in 1994.
George joined Glasgow in 2003 and had an immediate impact as team
captain, a position he held until June this year. An excellent gater,
his tidy style is good to watch.
Last season was a trying one for George with countless engine failures
frustrating rider and fans alike but towards the end of the season
a change in engine tuner seemed to have the required effect and
George finished off the season in style. Unsurprisingly, many clubs
were therefore interested in George for 2005 but he elected to remain
at Glasgow and will be one of the main influences in the team.
Last season he wore the no 1 race jacket, something many expect
to be repeated in 2005, and often gave the Tigers a solid start
to meetings.
