Speedway's
60 In Glasgow
Posted 25/04/06
For
those who missed it or did not get handed the flier on Sunday,
there is a new web based initiative from the Glasgow Tigers
Speedway Supporters Club.
It's
based on an original idea by Student Alex Tew who came up
with the idea of selling pixels on his web space for $1 each
to raise money for his college fees and ended up a millionaire-his
story can be read here.
The
GTSSC have now set up web space at www.speedways60inglasgow.com
to run a similar scheme to raise funds for Glasgow Tigers.
GTSSC
are selling their pixels at the higher cost of £2.50
each to help support speedway in Glasgow. Individuals or companies
can buy as many pixels as they wish and use the space bought
to advertise or post a slogan as long as it is not offensive.
Images can be linked to web sites.
They
have arranged for the page to stay on line for a minimum of
5 years and believe it to be the first ever pixel site for
a speedway initiative. There are 40000 pixels available for
sponsorship.
Whether
the higher cost of pixel sponsorship will put people off remains
to be seen but full details of the scheme, including how to
purchase pixels, can be found on their pixel website at www.speedways60inglasgow.com.
