Tigers
Announce 'Significant' Crowd Increase
Posted 21/08/06
In
an item on today's local teletext pages, Glasgow Tigers co-promoter
Alan Dick has reported a significant increase in crowd numbers
this season, being quoted as stating 'Its brilliant news'.
The
crowd level from March to August increased by 12% over last
years figure, whilst looking at the period since Tigers hit
the top of the league last month the increase is around 20%.
Obviously
the figures are in comparison to last seasons lows which had
the promotion considering whether or not to continue, but
it is still good news for Glasgow Speedway and Alan is also
quoted as estimating it could result in a £20,000 boost
for the Tigers over the season.
Although
the implication in the article is that it is Glasgow's good
form this season which has resulted in increased crowds, the
Tigers have undoubtedly reaped the benefits of the STARs initiatives,
the recent publicity received over the 'Design a Race Jacket'
for the 60th anniversary and the existing support spreading
the word and encouraging friends and colleagues to come along.
Long
may it continue!
