Smethills Makes Five

Lee Smethills was last night announced by the Glasgow promotion as the Tigers fifth signing for 2007.

The likeable Mancunian has been a bit of a journeyman over the last few seasons. He started last year at Berwick, where despite upping his average by almost a point he was dropped from the Bandits side when they went to make changes. He also spend some time at Rye House as injury cover.

Still only 24, Lee managed two seasons as an ever present for previous teams, riding all of Hulls meetings in 2002 followed by all of Exeter's in 2003. Last season he showed at Ashfield that his liking of the track could translate into points as his two Ashfield outings saw him average 8.

On internet forums, Lee has been a popular choice by fans of many teams as being a rider they would like to see in their 1-7 taking into account his average and he has the ability to increase his average.
