And
Then There Were Two

As a result of a ruling from the BSPA, Gordon
Pairman will be standing down as one of the Co-Promoters of
Glasgow Speedway with immediate effect.
The BSPA have advised that their rules do
not allow an individual to be a Promoter at two different
clubs at the same time. With Gordon being one of the three
named as the proposed new promoters at Belle Vue it meant
that a decision had to be made which position he would have
to stand down from.
His
co-promoters at Belle Vue are both newcomers to the position
and for Belle Vue to get a vote at meetings they have to have
a promoter with over three years experience. As Gordon meets
this criteria, the decision was made that to protect their
interests at Belle Vue Gordon would be forced to stand down
as co-promoter at Glasgow.
We
understand that Gordon is very disappointed at having to make
such a decision as he had hoped to continue as promoter at
both tracks.
The BSPA ruling may seem a new one to some,
our thoughts immediately went to Terry Russell but as has
since been pointed out although Mr Russell had an interest
in many clubs at the same time he was, in fact, only named
as a Promoter at Swindon.
Following on from that it is our understanding
that as a result Gordon does not want to change his involvement
with Glasgow in any other way and will continue as a Director
and Shareholder at Glasgow as well as a Tigers fan and will
still try to attend as many meetings as his schedule allows.
