CL
Gradings
Posted 02/02/06
The
gradings have been released for this season's Conference League
Riders and four of the current Glasgow team have been allocated
grades.
The
two most likely to be looking for CL berths in addition to
riding for Glasgow are obviously James Cockle and Adam Roynon.
James has been graded a 9 whilst Adam is graded a 6.
Also
listed are David McAllan and Lee Dicken who have been graded
11 whilst Glasgow assets Gary Beaton and James McBain have
been graded 5 and 2 respectively.
Of
course for Lee and David the grading is academic as whilst
in a declared 1-7 for a PL side they are inelligible to ride
at Conference League level. Adam definately can ride Conference
League but the situation regarding James Cockle is a little
vague. The rules state that riders with an PL average of over
4.50 cannot ride CL at the same time as PL but there is no
clarification as to whether this is the average with or without
bonus points. If with bonus points, James is over the limit.
Conference
League teams this season will build to a 40 point limit.
One
thing that is clear from a quick glance at the gradings is
the lack of cohesion between PL and CL on certain riders abilities.
Whilst most riders in the A or B reserve brackets for the
Premier League appear in the top grades for CL, Adam Roynon
and Ben Barker stand out as perhaps unlucky at PL level, both
being graded 6 by the Conference League where they have mostly
plied their trade. However, no fewer than 8 of those graded
C by the Premier League are graded above them by up to three
gradings in the Conference League.
