Tigers
Promotion Hit Back
Posted 03/01/06
In today's
Scottish Sun, the Glasgow promotion hit back at comments made
over the Ross Brady issue in the last few days.
Brady
himself has been quoted as saying: -
"If
Tigers demand a transfer fee, it could put me out of a job."
whilst
Edinburgh have stated they are adamant that they will not
pay a transfer fee for the rider.
Today's
Sun further added to the issue with comments from the Glasgow
promotion giving their feelings on the situation. The full
article can be read here.
Glasgow
have already given Brady the chance to put himself in the
shop window by allowing him to go out on loan last season
to the Monarchs despite him refusing to ride for Glasgow.
He has also refused to ride for Glasgow again this season
and it is surely therefore not unrealistic that Glasgow should
now insist on a transfer rather than subsidise another clubs
team.
Why
should a club continue to loan out a rider who has refused
two years running to ride for them? Last season rightly gave
the rider the benefit of the doubt, the chance of a season
elsewhere, this season it was time the promotion took a stand
especially given the current financial situation.
It
is in no one's interest for Brady to be frozen out but it
is certainly not in Glasgow's for him to continually go out
on loan. It is very interesting and speaks volumes that any
talk of transfer has been dismissed entirely by one of the
parties.
Clubs
can go to arbitration as was witnessed a few times at Elite
League level last season when no agreement can be reached
on actual fee.
