Help Rye to Victory
Posted 07/07/06
Danny
Bird put in another five star performance this evening to
help Rye House secure victory in a controversial meeting at
Armadale - ably aided and abetted by his Glasgow team mate
James Cockle.
The
controversy in the run up to the meeting had been over Danny's
inclusion as a guest and Steve Boxhall's move to no 2 for
Rye House. Those who thought it would end when tapes went
up were wrong after torrential rain in the run up to the meeting
left the track heavy.
Undeterred,
Danny went about the meeting professionally and recorded a
paid maximum, including coming from behind in heat 15 to pass
Moller on the third lap.
James
had a very busy night taking seven rides and scored a comfortable
6+2, showing once more the old determination despite the track
looking tricky in the early heats.
The
meeting was marred by a lengthy delay after heat 8 when the
riders called the referee down to look at track conditions
and a re-grade was ordered. Even after the re-grade, Edinburgh's
Rusty Harrison refused to ride although all other riders gave
it their best shot.
Danny
and James must both be confident after their displays tonight
that they can repeat their performances this time against
the Rockets when they head to Ashfield on Sunday.
