Glasgow Reserves Performance at Poole
Posted 19/07/06

It was a long night for Robert Ksiezak and James Cockle at Poole this evening as they competed in the Young Guns event at Poole.

The meeting was held up for over an hour after heat 5 due to heavy rain and even when the racing re-started there was constant doubt as to how many heats would be run. Initially they announced that it would be amended to 12 heats and a final, after heat 12 it was announced it would go to 16 heats and then after heat 16 it was decided it would run the original 20 heats.

Robert and James both got one ride in before the stoppage. James had trailed in at the back in heat 2 behind Chris Holder, Shaun Tacey and Ben Wilson whilst Robert claimed a second place behind the favourite Kasprzak in heat 3 after Berwick's Danny Warwick had fallen whilst in second.

Robert came out in the first heat after the rain and claimed another second, beating Shaun Tacey and Adam Allott. James came out a heat later and got 3rd place after Kasprzak retired from the race with engine problems, withdrawing from the meeting shortly after.

Heat 12 saw the two youngsters come up against each other, Robert getting the better of James in the battle for third behind the Redcar pairing of Tomas Suchanek and Chris Kerr.

James was out again a heat later and was awarded second place after Klindt fell and the race was stopped. Two heats later Robert came out for his fourth ride of the meeting and impressed by winning from Chris Schramm, Carl Wilkinson and Chris Holder. However Robert was to retire in his final race whilst James finished at the back in his last outing after falling and re-mounting.

Overall winner was Ricky Ashworth on 14 points with Nikoli Klindt second on 11 and Tomas Suchanek third on 10. Roberts retiral in the last race possibly denied him a podium position as he finished on a very respectable 8 points whilst James had a less successful night finishing on 3 but still giving a good account of himself in what was after all a field composed mostly of Premier League heat leader or second string standard riders.
