Mixed
Fortunes in Sweden
Posted 27/07/06
There
were mixed fortunes for Shane Parker and Kauko Nieminen as
they turned out for Kaparna and Griparna respectively.
Shane's
Kaparna side had a very comfortable 60-35 home win against
bottom of the league side Getingarna with Shane a very healthy
11+1 from 5 rides. His first race of the night saw him come
up against Eastbourne starlet Lewis Bridger in his debut ride
in the Swedish league and although Shane came out on top,
Lewis did challenge hard in second. Berwick's Andreas Bergstrom
finally managed to get the better of Shane when they came
up against each other tonight.
Meanwhile,
Kauko's Griparna side were having things a lot tougher in
their meeting at Ornarna, finally going down by 54-42 as a
result of losing three 5-1's in the final three heats. Kauko
himself started well enough recording two seconds and a paid
second in his first three rides before the mechanical gremlins
struck again in his fourth ride. We understand he was leading
going into lap 3 when he shed a chain. This was followed up
by a two minute exclusion in what should have been his final
ride of the evening.
