Shane
Calls for Later Start
Posted 27/03/06
Following
three rain-offs in as many days, Glasgow captain Shane Parker
has spoken out in favour of a later start to the speedway
season - ironically in the Sun.
Shane
has been hit slightly worse than most this season as in addition
to Glasgow meetings he has seen rain offs in testimonial and
benefit meetings he was scheduled to ride in.
The
Sun quotes Shane as saying: -
'Why
start the season so early? The weather is dreadful around
this time and that hasn't changed in the 18 years I've been
coming over
I've raced just one of the seven scheduled meetings since
the season started three weeks ago. lets start the season
at Easter and we'll have a fighting chance.'
Last
season, Glasgow only suffered one call-off in March, as they
did in April, May July and August. Ironically there were two
postponements due to the weather in June, both at Hull. In
2004 the first two scheduled meetings were postponed.
