BSPA
Conference Weekend
Posted 17/11/06
It's
the weekend that many Supporters and probably a few promotions
dread as the BSPA conference goes ahead this weekend at Rugby.
As
usual there has been much speculation as to what may or may
not happen and no doubt there will be one or two ideas or
changes thrown up that no one forecast but it will probably
be early Monday morning before next seasons rules and regulations
changes begin to filter out.
Some
of the proposals that have been mentioned include Newcastle
wishing to regionalise the Premier League into North and South,
Edinburgh wanting the 'British Reserves Only' rule scrapped
and Sheffield looking for an increase in the points limit
for team building. There is also a call from fans via the
recent Speedway Star poll to do away with the Tactical Ride
rule although indications are that this will not happen.
One
slight difference in this years conference is that for the
first time representatives of the Speedway Riders Associated
have been invited along to a small part of the Conference
to give a presentation and some input. It is recognition of
the major steps forward the SRA have taken in the last couple
of years and as Chair Shane Parker will no doubt take advantage
to put forward some observations from the riders point of
view. At this stage it is understood merely to be an invitation
to put forward a presentation and they will have no say in
any outcomes but it is a step forward that the Conference
are giving the SRA a chance to put forward their point of
view.
