Classic
Line Up Partly Known
Posted 19/10/06
With
three days to go, the majority of the riders for this Sunday's
Ashfield Classic have now been named. It has been difficult
for the promotion to finalise a field due to the number of
other events taking place on the same day including the previously
postponed Tyne Tees Trophy at Newcastle, the Fen Finale at
Mildenhall and the Craven Shield Final involving Eastbourne,
Poole and Coventry.
Sheffield's
Ben Wilson earns a place in the Classic after his impressive
performances at Ashfield this season. Adrian Rymel, a rider
who is often mentioned when Tigers are putting their team
together at the start of the season is also coming over.
There
are two unknown names in the line up. Grzegorz Knapp rode
in the Polish 1st Division for Tz Sipma Lubin alongside Marius
Frankow, Adam Shields Bo Brhel and Lubos Tomicek. He ended
up in the top twenty average wise recording 27 firsts, 23
seconds and 16 third places in his 15 meetings.
Czech
rider Matej Kus was part of the Olymp Praha squad this season
which again included Brhel and Tomicek. The seventeen year
old youngster rode earlier this month in one of the main Czech
meetings of the year, the Lubos Tomicek Memorial, and also
made people sit up and take notice when finishing third behind
Heffenbrock and Tomicek in the Golden Ribbon event in Pardubice
on the 14th October.
