With
the weather forecast looking favourable, it looks like its
all systems go for the Junior riders to take centre stage
at Ashfield tomorrow for the last meeting of the year.
A
varied 12 man field will take part and it will include Czech
youngster Matej Kus who had originally been scheduled to come
across for the aborted Ashfield Classic and is keen to get
a chance to show UK clubs what he can do. As advised in last
weeks comment on the hoped for Classic line up:-
Czech
rider Matej Kus was part of the Olymp Praha squad this season
which again included Brhel and Tomicek. The seventeen year
old youngster rode earlier this month in one of the main Czech
meetings of the year, the Lubos Tomicek Memorial, and also
made people sit up and take notice when finishing third behind
Heffenbrock and Tomicek in the Golden Ribbon event in Pardubice
on the 14th October.
However
the emphasis of the meeting is as always on youngsters and
non PL riders with John McPhail, Gary Beaton, Sean Patterson,
Cal McDade, Robert McNeil, Greg Blair and Kieron Morris from
Scotland in the line up. Ricky Lee Beecroft - who was one
of the riders involved in the horrific looking crash which
caused the previous running to be abandoned - will also be
riding alongside fellow Englishmen Steve Jones, Simon Lambert
and Wayne Dunworth.
Gary
Beaton will be amongst the favourites, knowing the track as
well as he does, although obviously Matej Kus will be an unknown
quantity. Simon Lambert rode for newly crowned champions King's
Lynn at the start of the season and is coming back from a
serious arm injury that cut his season short in June and resulted
in a metal plate being inserted.
