Kauko Shines in Sweden

Whilst the news was breaking in the UK of the decision to deny Danny Bird permission to ride this weekend, many may have missed that Tigers team mate Kauko Nieminen was once again in action in Sweden in a league meeting for Griparna against one of the favourites for the title Valsarna.

Kauko was certainly in fine form for the home side winning his first four races virtually untroubled by the opposition. Unfortunately however in the final and deciding heat of the night he and partner Robert Johnsson were outgated by their Valsarna opponents. The Valsarna pairing went on to team ride to a match winning 1-5 despite Kauko trying everything he could to get through.

Kauko was Griparna's rider of the night but it was scant consolation after the defeat by 45-49 left them languishing second bottom of the table.

Although Kaparna were riding at Lejonen last night, it was a week off for Shane Parker thanks to the squad system. Despite a defeat, Kaparna remain top of the Allsvenskan league.
