60th
Anniversary Meeting
Posted 15/09/06
This
weekend sees a break from league and cup action for the Tigers
as Glasgow celebrate 60 years in the sport with a 60th Anniversary
Meeting between the current Glasgow 1-7 and a very strong
looking Rest of the World team.
Although
options for riders for the Rest of the World select were limited
with many clubs still in competitive action and Andy Smith's
testimonial on the same day, the selection that has been drawn
up look as if they will make it very difficult for the current
team.
The

It is understood that the meeting will be
based on the old 13 heat format, a copy of which can be viewed
at the excellent Speedway
FAQ site for those who are unfamiliar with it or who need
a little reminder.
Normal admission prices apply for the event
and although season tickets are NOT valid, season ticket holders
will receive a £5 reduction on admission as long as
they produce their season ticket at the gate.
Although we have been unable to find any
details, many past Tigers will also be present on the day
in the crowd and no doubt being interviewed by Michael Max
on centre green. All we need now is the weather and the good
news is that it is forecast to be dry.
Later in the evening there is also the 60th
Anniversary Party at Firhill with many past and present riders
expected to be in attendance and we understand there may also
still be a limited number of tickets available for this event
on Sunday at £5 each. Glasgow race jackets from the
meeting will be auctioned at Firhill.
