Shane
Leads Team to Title
Posted 22/09/06
Shane
Parker got a taste of what it is like to win the play offs
last night as he led his Swedish side, Kaparna, to victory
in Sweden last night in the Play Off final against Valsarna.
Kaparna
opened well with a 5-1 but then suffered two heat reverses
including heat 3, when Shane suffered an engine failure whilst
in second place. His second programmed ride in heat 6 saw
Shane get the second place after a re start but he was unable
to catch Valsarna's Emil Kramer.
A
very bad gate from Shane in heat 8 left him at the back, although
he managed to pass Valsarna's reserve Isometta at the end
of the opening lap finishing third behind his team mate. Things
had been close between the two sides to this stage but Kaparna
began to open up a bit of a lead in the next two heats before
conceding a 1-5 in heat 11.
Shane
won heat 13 and with his partner in third they were beginning
to open the gap up again. The final heat Shane took part in
was the penultimate heat 15 in which he came third but the
Swedish commentator called one of the most incredible speedway
races in this years Allsvenskan. With Valsarna holding a 10
point league from the first leg the night before - a meeting
Shane obviously did not ride in - it also meant that Kaparna
only had to avoid finishing last in the final heat to ensure
the title was theirs and they did this in style by recording
a 5-1 in front of their home fans.
Well
done to Shane and Kaparna on the Swedish title - most felt
that justice was done in the play offs as Kaparna finished
top of the league with Valsarna in second although a double
title win with the British League would be nice!
