Narrow
Defeat at Mildenhall
Posted 05/06/06
As
none of our team were at Mildenhall, it's not possible to
do a specific report on the meeting but from comments made
elsewhere Glasgow ran things very close in this meeting despite
being without Danny Bird.
Most
Glasgow fans probably thought that there was no chance when
they heard that Danny Bird wasn't riding due to a migraine
but the remaining riders certainly seem to have done their
best to combat that with decent performances. Mildenhall were
also using rider replacement, thanks to a BSPA dispensation
correctly given to allow it after recent signing Andrew Moore
shocked the club by quitting speedway for the season 24 hours
earlier.
From
comments made by people who were there, James Cockle again
impressed until he picked up a knock when he fell in heat
12, whilst Kauko was the Tigers star man in the early part
of the meeting although he faded towards the end. He scored
an important 6 points in a TR in heat 7 which combined with
a 5-1 from McAllan and Cockle a heat later pulled Glasgow
right back into the meeting.
It
was also good to see, from a Glasgow point if view, Lee Dicken
pick up his first away win for the Tigers in heat 12, the
official Mildenhall site commenting that he did it by copying
the manoeuvre Parker used to win heat 11.
At
the time of writing, the only report we have been able to
find on the meeting itself can be found at the Official
Mildenhall website - obviously it is written from a Mildenhall
perspective but it looks a reasonably objective report from
comments made elsewhere.
Our
apologies for not being able to cover this meeting ourselves,
hopefully this will be the only occasion none of us are at
a meeting this season.
