Tigers
fail to Qualify in Fours

When the venue for this season's PL Fours competition was
confirmed, many felt that Glasgow were in with a good chance
of at least making the rostrum, but those hopes faded with
Kauko Nieminen's heat 15 crash the night before at Armadale.
The Quintet who turned out for Glasgow
on the night gave a very good account of themselves but unfortunately
did not qualify through from the group stages.
All five riders had at least one outing -
Robert replacing Lee in heat 4 after Lee failed to beat the
two minute time allowance. Danny managed two second places,
in both instances being beaten by a home rider. Shane recorded
the tigers only heat win in heat 2 whilst David picked up
two thirds with Lee picking up a third in his only outing.
Glasgow had another injury fright on the
night when Captain Shane Parker took a very heavy fall in
his second race, colliding heavily with the third bend fence
after picking up unexpected drive. He went in back first and
spent some time in the ambulance being checked over with very
heavy bruising to his lower back to the extent that at one
stage his participation in Sunday's pairs was at risk.
In the end, Glasgow's 10 points in the qualifying
group were 2 points short of seeing them through to final
stages with the eventual winners and runners up on the night
- Workington and Somerset, going through from their group
instead.
Somerset pushed Workington all the way in
the final with Sheffield claiming third ahead of King's Lynn.
Our congratulations to Workington on their win.
