At the moment, Ross is still a Glasgow asset
although for how much longer remains to be seen. Following
his refusal to consider riding for Glasgow two seasons in
a row the promotion have lost patience with him and see
no reason to hold on to an asset who has no interest in
Glasgow and he is therefore up for sale.
As with most Scottish riders of his age, Ross
started out at Lathallan in 97. His father rode speedway
so it was 'in the blood'.
He was originally an Edinburgh asset before
being sold to Hull, who in turn then sold him on to Glasgow
at the start of 2003. Sadly Ross was not to meet the hype
that surrounded his signing and his time actually riding
for the Tigers was both brief and disappointing.
He resurrected his career by returning to
Hull on loan for the 2004 season and finished the season
with an improved average and a league winner's medal. As
with every league winning side though, riders have to be
sacrificed for the following season. With no place for Ross
at Craven Park in 2005 he has elected to return on loan
to Edinburgh and has indicated this is where he also wishes
to race in 2006. However the Edinburgh promotion do not
seem so keen as Glasgow have indicated he is for transfer
and not for loan.
In addition to the Scottish cubs and Hull,
Ross has also ridden for Peterborough, Sheffield and Berwick
as well as for Kings Lynn in challenge meetings early in
the 2001 season without making his official debut.
Out with speedway, he was Scottish schoolboy
moto-X champion in 94 and 95 , finished 6th in the UK finals
and represented Scotland in a home nations four team tournament.
