2006
Glasgow Scoring Record
Danny is the very welcome surprise signing for 2006. He
was expected to ride Elite League with Reading but they
miscalculated the average and chose to drop Danny rather
than one of their foreign riders.
Although he has been racing since he was 5, Danny didn't
try speedway until he was 19 when he had an outing at Sittingbourne
press and practice day.
He was quickly snapped up by Isle of Wight where he was
an instant hit with the fans. Within a year he made his
first international appearance for Great Britain at under-21
level an in his second season of PL racing he almost doubled
his average.
In 2003 Danny made his first and so far only appearance
for Great Britain before being sold to Reading for the 2004
season and immediately becoming a hit on the terraces at
Smallmead. He took advantage of the doubling up rule to
ride EL with Ipswich and it appears to have been this -
along with injury - that ultimately caused his average problems
this year.
2005 was a nightmare for him, breaking his leg badly in
March. Many expected him to miss the whole season but Danny
made his comeback in August. Unfortunately it was to be
short lived as a crash at Exeter in only his 3rd meeting
resulted in his leg being broken again and a badly dislocated
elbow.
Danny is a good gater and all out stylish rider. He already
has two PL Pairs titles to his name (with Adam Shields for
the Isle of Wight in 2002 and Phil Morris for Reading in
2004) and Glasgow fans will be hoping he can collect his
third title with Shane this season.
In addition to speedway he is an accomplished moto-cross
rider and won the 1997 Moto-Cross Champion of Champions.
