2006 Glasgow Scoring
Record
With Shane having his testimonials both in Australia and
the UK in 2005 some worried that he may decide not to return
to Glasgow in 2006. This worry was compounded when the new
rules made his position look in danger.
However, the worries were unfounded when Shane was the
third rider announced for 2006.
Outgoing Shane is well known and well liked as one of the
few real entertainers in speedway. A true showman and always
one to acknowledge the fans. He has very much led by example
in his time at Glasgow. His form at Ashfield has been superb
and although one or two of the away tracks still prove more
tricky his scoring is still vital.
Shane is an all round sportsman and was the first rider
to take advantage of the appalling 'doubling-down' ruling
when it was brought in.
Never one to avoid controversy or injustice, Shane is president
of the speedway riders association and has gone on record
as stating that speedway will never improve whilst the BSPA
runs it.
The popular Aussie has ridden for his country many times
and has a list of Australian titles too long to mention.
In addition to Glasgow, Shane has elected to return to
riding in Sweden again in 2006 and will captain Kaparna
Goeteborg in the Allsvenskan.
Things will never be boring or mundane whilst Shane is
around and Glasgow fans can look forward to some more good
entertainment from him in 2006.
